Please pray for my Mom, Margaret- Wife, Sister, Aunt, Mother to 5, mother- in- law to 5 and Grammie to 17 grandchildren She suffered a stroke early Sunday morning, at home in Iowa. She is now in the intensive care unit in Cedar Rapids. I know how powerful prayer can be- so I have confidence with everyone praying she will recover.

CRASH

You know what Carol Brady says,
"DON'T PLAY BALL IN THE HOUSE!"
Well, I found out Saturday morning, Carol Brady was right!
This is what a Cuponk ball (just like a ping pong ball) did.

Life With The Kahls

We have been very busy, but enjoying it all!. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with schedules and I get tired of running around but then I see the boys meeting new people, trying new things and learning how to solve problems and I have to stop thinking about how tired I am and start remembering WHY I am doing it. Soooooo- What are some things that have been going on around here?
One benefit of living where we do, the Good Year Blimp occasionally flies right over our house.
Ben's Lego League is in full swing. This years challenge: Food Factor. Our team is researching carrots. We took a field trip to a local restaurant to talk about food safety and storage. Next week, the "Carrot King" from Iowa is stopping in for a visit and to bring some of his world famous organic carrots. The kids are excited!
We are still swimming as of September 21st. Gabe snuggles up on the slide where the water coming in is 80 degrees. He is so smart!
Cub Scouts has started. We have 2 scouts this year.

Protector

I love this picture because it shows how much Ben protects and LOVES Gabe, The hand behind Gabe's head while they watch TV is so sweet. I am also seeing that there are times where Gabe has to defend Ben. I am very THANKFUL they have a great sibling bond.

Some Things Never Change

My college roommate and her kids came for a visit from Iowa this weekend. The kids swam and played together and Tonya and I did what we used to do years ago- weird and crazy things. This time, I forced her daughter to play our hair game and, although confused and finding it to be a lot less humorous, she did it.- Thank you for humoring me Hannah!!

In Between Time

What do you do when you should be doing laundry, preparing for weekend guests, grocery shopping, cleaning, organizing a Lego league, getting ready for the neighborhood garage sale? Why you look at Pinterest to find NEW projects like this one of course! I did this today. It is suppose to resemble a series of photo booth pictures. It only cost 15.00 to make. I am still deciding if I like it.

Mission Accomplished

I have been on a covert operation. I have been looking for a St. Joesph statue-for a long time...
Have you ever heard?
St Joesph sells houses. Well. not exactly. He is not the patron saint of real estate. He does not read the MLS looking for people to help. He doesn't stage or market your house. What he can do is LISTEN if you pray from your heart.
St. Joesph is the patron saint of home and family.. This statue shows St Joesph holding his foster son, the child Jesus. People SAY if you bury St Joesph in your yard your house will sell.It is also said that once the property is sold, the statue must be dug up and placed on the grateful sellers mantel. So that is where my mission begins. Fabie and Joe have already moved. THEN the house sold. They sent their faithful neighbor(ME- of course!) on a mission to dig. The problems were obvious. I can't read maps, I can't follow directions and I really don't even know how to dig dirt. A few holes and weeks later St Joesph has finally been recovered!
Here is what I have learned on my mission:
1. I still miss Fabie, Joe and the girls as bad as the day they left. Will it ever get better?
2. Their house is the ONLY house (there are 5 others) in our neighborhood that has sold.
3. It is not about the statue. Superstitions and gimmicks aside- it isn't about the statue. It is about prayer. The most important part of this process is to pray. Pray for St Joesph to intervene for you. A prayer from the heart is always a good place to go.
I know. As I was digging up the statue, I was praying.
Praying that Fabie, Joe and the girls find happiness in Germany
Praying that my family can find ways to make their absence hurt less.
Praying for the new owners as they embark on the new journey of home ownership AND that they don't get mad about a few little holes.
It was an honor to dig up the St Joesph statue. It was a great reminder to me and to everyone who reads this that prayer, when done from the heart is powerful.

Brothers

I feel so blessed that these two get along so well. They really do enjoy playing with each other and being together.

Weird

It was sort of a weird day here. It was cool. For dinner we ate a full Thanksgiving dinner including turkey, dressing, potatoes, corn- and THEN Ben and Kevin swam. Who cares that the temperature outside said 68 degrees when they jumped in. The pool was still a pleasant 81 degrees. Gabe and I decided to sit and watch in our warm, dry clothes. Weird day...

Hello

Hello. My name is Bruiser. I weigh 65 pounds, which means I have past the point for which Daddy-O Kahl can say to Mommy- O Kahl that I am a medium sized dog. I like everyone, except for that woman who feeds me, walks me, buys me toys. She makes me laugh when she chases me shouting gibberish while I have a snack of shoe or kitchen towel so she IS good entertainment. I love to dig the brand new sod, the reaction I get is awesome. If I am digging really well that lady comes out shaking a chip bag at me. Weird but I do stop I love Lays plain potato chips. The problem is I usually only get 1 and I am usually eating it in jail. Jail is where I spend a lot of time. It's never long, but it is frequent. Jail time for digging. Jail time for jumping. Jail time for my shoe (especially Havianas from Brazil- YUM-O) addiction. Jail for my towel and underwear addiction. But the joke is on them because JAIL is really the mud room where I sit by the air vent dreaming of my next steal. I have to admit, I am good at finding things I shouldn't have. I have a feeling an intervention is coming. I keep hearing that someone is coming to help Mommy-O I can't wait to be perfect when they are here.
Oh and by the way, I know that voice of Daddy-O screaming "Drop It!" IS NOT THE REAL THING. I would SEE him if he were here. Nice try though.
