Off to Practice

Can this really be? This will be my life from now until April ALL 3 of the Kahl boys gone to wrestling practice! Every Monday and Wednesday Coach Kevin, Ben and Gabe(my baby is wrestling this year!) are off to Wrestling club practice I will have 2 hours on these nights to MYSELF!!!!! Could life be more divine right now? Well- just to make you feel better, I have committed to running on the treadmill during this time- so it is not like I am going to have fun! BUT- I feel so blessed that once again Kevin is a great Dad who truly enjoys being with his boys!

BOO!!!!!

What do you do the day after Thanksgiving? Of course you run wild around the Kahl house. These children were tormenting Kevin this afternoon. So Kevin decided to "play"along. As I positioned them for a picture Kevin was in the closet. After the picture he jumped out. Notice Gabe is not in the second picture. He ran so fast to the basement and the other 3 were a cross between screams and laughs. Who knew some Canoodles and a dad could be so much fun!!!

Thanksgiving Day 2009

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was great- So great I forgot to call ANYONE in my family Sorry Mom and Dad.. I know I am usually your favorite- but I lost some points today. We started our day by decorating the tree. The boys love opening their new ornaments (this year it was Pokemon) We spent the day cooking, cleaning and relaxing before our friends arrived for Thanksgiving dinner. Kevin cooked a 20 lb turkey and we had all of the "traditional" thanksgiving favorites as well as sweet potatoes(Brazilian style) and wonderful Pudding that our friend Klaus made. The kids enjoyed playing together. Kevin even had friends to play pool with while the girls made their plan of attack for black Friday- 5 AM will come much too quickly. Good night all!!!!

SNOW

NOT NOW- but maybe tonight. Sorry everyone. I love a huge snowstorm. As long as I have milk for the boys and coffee mate for me and Kevin gets to stay home(yeah right!)- I am set. Bring it on- Really were are going to get a dusting but I made sure all gear was in order. These pictures were actually taken LAST YEAR in February- Kevin blew out paths in the backyard so the boys could run their trucks through. Isn't Kevin amazing???

OPRAH

We went to Oprah last week. I think I signed some agreement to not blog about her- whatever!

Our show airs today- Remembering Ted Kennedy. You will not see me unless they panned in on me while I slept. Fabi however, was Ted Kennedy Jr's "seat filler" so when you notice him go on stage look for Fabi (Green sweater- the one standing next to me in this picture) That was VERY exciting for her- I hope they show her. All in all, it was neat to see, and it was a great day to spend with girlfriends!!!

Wrestling

Ben had his first tournament today. We have decided we either need to stop feeding him- or they group the children by how long they have been wrestling. Poor Ben was wrestling 4th and 5th graders because they were the same weight. Needless to say- all 3 matches did not go in favor of Ben. Our club season starts the 30th. Here we go again only this year Gabe is also wrestling in club!

OPRAH HERE I COME!!!!!

Tomorrow is the big day- Its off to see Oprah!!! These are the outfits the boys have chosen for me to wear. Ben- the UNI jersey(with a belt and heels to make me more "girl like") And Gabe's- well how do you explain it? After I put it all on- he said "Perfect you really do look like a Pokemon mommy!" Going to see Oprah would be great on any day, but when I got home tonight sitting on my home page was a HUGE announcement. Oprah will be announcing on tomorrows show an end to an era. Historic television moment- And I will be there!!!! What was excitement at 5PM is now I am not sure if I will sleep tonight excitement! Look for me- I will be wearing a black shirt and a really cool red necklace my neighbor Trish made for me!!!!
Oh- and by the way- I ended up making that unmade bed behind me, picked up the dirty laundry and put lotion on my knees. What can I say- it was laundry day!

Pie for Daddy

Ben worked REALLY hard selling Boy Scout Popcorn. He sold over 400.00 so he got to throw a pie in an"adult leaders" face. This includes parents. I have been prepping Ben for a long time on why he needs to put the pie in Dad's face. I really thought he was going to throw me under the bus at the last second, but it was Kevin who actually saved me(Imagine that!) My nose can not handle a 8 year old who is excited and brimming with anticipation to SMACK a pie tin into it. My nose has not ever fully recovered from the pituitary surgery Basically it hurts on a good day- no pie in it needed! So As always Kevin stepped up to the plate(the pie plate that is!)We all had fun watching and of course Gabe had to have a little taste! Godd job Ben and thank you Kevin!!!

Christmas

I know I am crazy. I have started decorating for Christmas.. I was looking at a website called dollarstorecrafts.com and I found this great idea. Has anyone seen the VERY HIGH PRICED Pottery Barn Christmas frames? They are 29-49 a frame. What you see here are dollar store frames and a roll of 99 cent ribbon. They turned out great!

They will look good on our black table or I may actually do more and hang them in the tree.

OPRAH

I AM GOING TO OPRAH- YES IT'S TRUE- I AM ATTENDING THE NOVEMBER 20TH TAPING OF OPRAH IN CHICAGO (THANKS TO FABI'S PERSISTENCE!) I HAVE HEARD THE RUMORS- THE OUTFIT YOU WEAR DETERMINES WHERE YOU SIT. IS THIS TRUE? THE KIDS (EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHO OPRAH IS-)ARE VERY EXCITED FOR ME. THEY HAVE AGREED TO PICK OUT SOME SPECIAL CLOTHES FOR ME TO WEAR. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEIR CHOICES! I JUST MIGHT HAVE TO SHOW EVERYONE THEIR CHOICES!!!! MORE LATER......

TOGETHER AGAIN!!!!!

Kevin and Gabe just got back from Iowa. They were able to hang out with our friends Ben and Drew. Ben is responsible for introducing Kevin and I MANY years ago. His wife Liz and I were pregnant together with Gabe and Drew. The boys have not seen each other since they were newborns. It looks like they had a great time together and, looking at the pictures makes me miss our friends in Iowa a little more!!!!!

PARTY!!!!!!

Ben's 2 day birthday celebration has now come to a close. Why does it always feel SO GOOD when something like this is accomplished? I am not happy my baby is getting older but I like that we can check "Party for 12 boys at our house" off our list. On Ben's birthday we are able to celebrate with our friends by going to Red Robin (We LOVE that restaurant- they are so allergy aware!) It was a very nice time!

Then -last night we had 10 of Ben's friends to our house for a Bakugan Brawlers party. Kevin transformed our basement into Boy Central. Making a brawlers arena and training area. The party went perfectly. So much so, I actually addressed the thank you cards as the boys were eating pizza. Today we are enjoying our quiet and clean house. What a great birthday for our great boy!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN

Today Ben turned 8!!!! We have only started the celebration. This morning, We woke Ben up by placing the first and most wanted item from his list into his hand. We let him open all of his presents before school and celebrated with banana muffins. It was off to school where we ate lunch with our birthday boy. Then its home from school, cake, play with presents and off to dinner. What a day. It sure is hard being 8!!!!
